Linking Childrens Thinking

Grouping Materials helps children become familiar with the concept of raw materials and identifying the materials which products are made from. Initially review
the picture cards with the children, to be sure that they know what each object is. Using the first pad, the pupil selects a material card and then identifies and
selects the correct corresponding cards. Select 3 cards, two of which are related to one material group, and the third which is not. E.g. mirror, goldfish bowl,
trumpet. Ask the children to come up with their own associations. The groups of materials are glass, wood, metal, plastic, fabric and paper.
